Stokesley School Students Celebrate GCSE Success

Students at Stokesley School have been enjoying opening their exam results today. In a context of reformed GCSEs which are significantly more challenging, there is much to celebrate.

The overall pass rate at grade 4 and above (a standard pass) is 76.8% and the overall pass rate at grade 5 and above (a strong pass) is 61.1%. 64.3% of students passed both English and maths.

6.7% of all grades were a 9 which is the new gold standard achieved only by the top third of students who would have previously been awarded an A*. The calibre of our students is also shown in the 27.2% of 7-9 grades (equivalent to the old A*-A measure), with more than a fifth of our students achieving at least 5 of their total grades at this level.

We are proud of all of our students and staff, but this year in particular has yielded some fantastic results in science. Across all science subjects there was a total of 61 top grades which will no doubt be well above the national average.

There are many individual success stories too and we look forward to welcoming back many of our students into Stokesley School Sixth Form next month!
